Deck the Halls: Decorating for the Holidays

I love the holidays in Brooklyn. The streets are lined with festive lights and decorations, and there's a sense of excitement in the air. One of my favorite things to do during this time of year is to decorate my apartment. I love getting creative and making my space feel warm and inviting for friends and family.

I'm a big fan of trips to the post office and earlier this year I picked up new Strega Nona stamps just to save for our holiday cards. There are so many ways to personalize holiday cards, sometimes hand-lettering names on the envelopes also adds a nice personal touch.

I'm still putting together my holiday decorating plans, but I'm excited to start getting my apartment into the festive spirit. November goes so quickly and I want to make sure I can enjoy all the decor as long as possible. This is my favorite time of year and I can't wait to celebrate the holidays with my loved ones.

Tips for Decorating

Here are a few tips for decorating your home for the holidays:

  • Start with a plan. What kind of look are you going for? Do you want to keep it classic or try something more unique? Once you have a general idea, you can start to gather decorations.

  • Try a color palette. Have a favorite color combo? Sticking with a color scheme or theme makes it fun to be creative but helps everything look cohesive.

  • Use natural elements. Fresh greenery, pine cones, and berries can add a touch of nature to your holiday decorations. I love to fill up vases with them.

  • Don't forget the details. Little things like festive throw pillows, candles, and doormats can really make your space feel special. Scent is everything. Work with your space. Small apartment? Try using a tension rod suspended in a hallway to wrap garland and hang ornaments.

  • Have fun! Decorating for the holidays should be enjoyable. So relax, get creative, and enjoy the process.
