Deck the Halls: Decorating for the Holidays
I love the holidays in Brooklyn. The streets are lined with festive lights and decorations, and there's a sense of excitement in the air. One of my favorite things to do during this time of year is to decorate my apartment. I love getting creative and making my space feel warm and inviting for friends and family.
I'm a big fan of trips to the post office and earlier this year I picked up new Strega Nona stamps just to save for our holiday cards. There are so many ways to personalize holiday cards, sometimes hand-lettering names on the envelopes also adds a nice personal touch.
I'm still putting together my holiday decorating plans, but I'm excited to start getting my apartment into the festive spirit. November goes so quickly and I want to make sure I can enjoy all the decor as long as possible. This is my favorite time of year and I can't wait to celebrate the holidays with my loved ones.
Tips for Decorating
Here are a few tips for decorating your home for the holidays:
Start with a plan. What kind of look are you going for? Do you want to keep it classic or try something more unique? Once you have a general idea, you can start to gather decorations.
Try a color palette. Have a favorite color combo? Sticking with a color scheme or theme makes it fun to be creative but helps everything look cohesive.
Use natural elements. Fresh greenery, pine cones, and berries can add a touch of nature to your holiday decorations. I love to fill up vases with them.
Don't forget the details. Little things like festive throw pillows, candles, and doormats can really make your space feel special. Scent is everything. Work with your space. Small apartment? Try using a tension rod suspended in a hallway to wrap garland and hang ornaments.
Have fun! Decorating for the holidays should be enjoyable. So relax, get creative, and enjoy the process.
